Foundry and Glass Industries

Importance of Dust Monitoring

The production of foundry metals and glass require many different workshop areas. In these workshops there typically are dust extraction systems installed to remove the dust from these ambient environments in order to maintain a healthy workplace for employees as well as to protect the equipment in the room. Many companies attempt to use an opacity based dust monitoring system in order to measure the dust. The problem with this is that due to the conditions in these workshops, the monitors need constant maintenance and do not tend to follow dust trends accurately, creating false positives regularly. This creates a large maintenance problem for plants, increasing costs without providing the necessary output.

Here is an example of a layout for a foundry metal/glass workshop that includes two Sintrol Dumos to measure ambient dust concentrations.
